As the start was effected, SUPREME ESSENCE reared and lost ground. DANEWIN EXPRESS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SPEEDY WINNER. After this, SPEEDY WINNER, from a wide barrier, was taken across behind runners. GOLDEN DEER began only fairly. After being bumped by PABLOSKY which shifted out on jumping, HOLYANGELHOLY shifted out further, resulting in GRIMMY and PACKING LLAREGYB being hampered. Near the 1200 Metres, HOLYANGELHOLY dipped. After the 1200 Metres, BERLINI was steadied away from the heels of DANEWIN EXPRESS (R Curatolo) which shifted in when not quite clear. R Curatolo was advised to exercise more care. In the early stages, PABLOSKY proved difficult to settle and was inclined to get its head up when racing close to the heels of SWIFT SHADOW. DANEWIN EXPRESS lost its right front plate in the early stages. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, DANEWIN EXPRESS got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ABSOLUTE FANTASY which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. BERLINI, which was following DANEWIN EXPRESS, was racing close to the heels of that horse in consequence. Also making the turn after the 900 Metres, PACKING LLAREGYB was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME ESSENCE. For the majority of the race, SPEEDY WINNER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, M Nunes stated that he had been asked to ride STRATHTAY in about a midfield position if possible. He said STRATHTAY began well and as it appeared as though PACKING LLAREGYB, which was drawn to the inside of STRATHTAY, was going to take up a position in about midfield, he elected to shift across with that horse and follow it during the race as he believed it was a strong chance. He said had he have ridden STRATHTAY forward of PACKING LLAREGYB, he felt that he may have been left racing more forward than he had been instructed. He added after shifting STRATHTAY in behind PACKING LLAREGYB, that horse was then steadied by its rider and got back further in the field than he had expected it would and because of this STRATHTAY raced further back in the field than had been intended. He said nonetheless he felt that STRATHTAY was disappointing in the Straight as PACKING LLAREGYB was able to finish in the placings whilst STRATHTAY finished off the race only one-paced. A veterinary inspection of MARVEL TRIBE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, MARVEL TRIBE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BERLINI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. PACKING LLAREGYB, SWIFT SHADOW and JAEGER BOMB were sent for sampling.
