YO-YO DA, which reared and became fractious after being placed in the barriers, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being permitted to race again. YO-YO DA then began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FIONN’S PRIDE, causing both horses to become unbalanced. As the start was effected, WORLD CITY reared and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, WORLD CITY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. SIR JOHN shifted out at the start and bumped POWER BLITZ. Shortly after the start, GIDEON was crowded for room between GOOD GOOD VIEW and SECRET IDENTITY, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the 1100 Metres, FIONN’S PRIDE lost its left front plate. Passing the 1000 Metres, THOR THE GREATEST, which was racing greenly, shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of TRAVEL MASTER which itself shifted in momentarily before being corrected by its rider. THOR THE GREATEST then again shifted in, resulting in GOOD GOOD VIEW being steadied and GIDEON, which was following GOOD GOOD VIEW, also being inconvenienced. After the 900 Metres, SIR JOHN was left racing wide and without cover. After being crossed by YO-YO DA, TRAVEL MASTER proved difficult to settle and was steadied away from the heels of that horse for some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres. At the 700 Metres, WORLD CITY shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIONN’S PRIDE. Passing the 700 Metres, THOR THE GREATEST got its head up when over-racing and positioned close to the heels of TRAVEL MASTER. Rounding the Home Turn, GIDEON raced in restricted room inside GOOD GOOD VIEW. GIDEON had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. At the 300 Metres, TRAVEL MASTER was shifted out away from the heels of GOOD GOOD VIEW which shifted out after being brushed by YO-YO DA. POWER BLITZ was unable to obtain clear running until after the 200 Metres. C Y Ho (SAFARI MAGIC) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SIR JOHN, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 20 March 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 9 March 2014. In addition, C Y Ho was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Over the final 200 Metres, SECRET IDENTITY got its head on the side and lay out. After the race, Trainer W Y So stated that following YO-YO DA’s disappointing performance, it is his intention to give the horse a freshen-up prior to its next race start. A veterinary inspection of YO-YO DA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
