CHARTER VICTORIA was withdrawn on 7.2.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY BONUS (T Angland). Before being allowed to race again, CHARTER VICTORIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY BONUS stood flat-footed at the start and lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY BONUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. HIGH SPEED METRO began awkwardly. FORTUNE TERRITORY began only fairly. From wide barriers, GOOD HONG KONG and AH BO were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1200 Metres, LITTLE WIND, which was proving very difficult to settle and got its head up on numerous occasions, was checked away from the heels of YOU AND M. Approaching the 1100 Metres, HIGH SPEED METRO commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of NUMERO UNO. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, YOU AND M travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind AMAZING GIFT. After the 900 Metres, YOU AND M, which continued to prove difficult to settle, momentarily shifted out away from the heels of AMAZING GIFT. LITTLE WIND, which also continued to prove difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of YOU AND M in consequence. After the 900 Metres, LUCKY DAN was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 750 Metres, HIGH SPEED METRO was checked away from the heels of NUMERO UNO. AMAZING GIFT lay out rounding the Home Turn. LUCKY BONUS and NUMERO UNO were sent for sampling.
