THE WAY FOR ALL, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 1.2.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, THE WAY FOR ALL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The start was delayed when W M Lai damaged his right boot after GOLDEN DEER was loaded into the barriers. MASTER SOMMELIER began awkwardly. DASHING FORTUNE blundered badly at the start. HIGH TROJA began only fairly. From wide barriers, PLENTIFUL and SUPREME FALCON were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metres, MEGA CHAMPION was bumped by GALLANT TRIUMPH which was taken in by DASHING FORTUNE (K Teetan). K Teetan was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After the 1100 Metres, MASTER SOMMELIER commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SPEEDY WINNER for some distance. After the 900 Metres, GALLANT TRIUMPH was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 700 Metres, GALLANT TRIUMPH and GOLDEN DEER bumped as GOLDEN DEER shifted out away from the heels of MAC ROW. When GOLDEN DEER shifted out, STRATHTAY improved into tight running inside GOLDEN DEER and to the outside of MASTER SOMMELIER. For some distance after this, STRATHTAY and GOLDEN DEER raced very tight between GALLANT TRIUMPH and MASTER SOMMELIER which got its head on the side and lay out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPEEDY WINNER. This resulted in GOLDEN DEER being checked and losing its position passing the 600 Metres. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken. SUPREME FALCON, which was following GOLDEN DEER, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. After the 500 Metres, STRATHTAY was steadied when disappointed for running between MAC ROW and MASTER SOMMELIER which, after shifting out into tight running between STRATHTAY and SPEEDY WINNER, was then taken out further when SPEEDY WINNER shifted ground. Approaching the 200 Metres, G Mosse (CALLING WITH LOVE) dropped his left rein. PLENTIFUL lost its left front plate approaching the 100 Metres. SUPREME FALCON was unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the Straight and consequently was not tested. MEGA CHAMPION had difficulty obtaining clear running in the Straight and because of this was not able to be properly tested. PLENTIFUL lay in under pressure in the Straight and proved difficult to ride. For the majority of the race, CALLING WITH LOVE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN DEER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. OUR FOLKS and STRATHTAY were sent for sampling.
