When about to be loaded into the barriers, JAEGER BOMB lost its left front plate which necessitated the horse being replated. Those runners which had previously been loaded into the barriers were removed. This resulted in the start of the race being delayed. EXECUTIVE MANDATE was slow to begin. As the start was effected, SMART BALL lifted its front feet off the ground and began only fairly. After this, SMART BALL was ridden along to obtain a forward position. LAUGH OUT LOUD travelled keenly in the early stages and approaching the 1000 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT LOVER. Then making the turn after the 900 Metres, LAUGH OUT LOUD got its head on the side and lay out. In the early part of the Straight, EXECUTIVE MANDATE had some difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, MARVEL TRIBE was badly held up and was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 100 Metres. Because of this, MARVEL TRIBE was not able to be properly tested. For the majority of the race, SICHUAN EXEC travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SICHUAN EXEC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HEARTS KEEPER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. SANTA FE SUN and GREAT SKY were sent for sampling.
