On arrival at the Start, Z Purton (YEE CHEONG STAR) expressed concerns over the horse’s action. YEE CHEONG STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who, after the necessary consultations, found the horse suitable to race. FLYING ELITE began awkwardly and then shortly afterwards was bumped by MIGHTY K which was taken out by DUAL HAPPY. FLYING ELITE then shifted out, causing DISTILL to be hampered. AMAZINGLY and FIRST SIGHT LOVE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. For the major part of the race, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS travelled wide and without cover and then when giving ground in the Straight got its head on the side, hung in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned, N Pinna stated that AMAZINGLY did not feel comfortable in its action during the race. He said he placed the horse under pressure in the early part of the Straight, however, AMAZINGLY did not quicken appreciably and as its action, in his opinion, deteriorated, he did not ride it out over the final 100 Metres. N Pinna was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, wherever circumstances permit, he must ensure that he rides his mounts out all the way to the finishing line so as to ensure that his riding of horses does not come into question. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZINGLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of EMPEROR CLAUDIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FIRST SIGHT LOVE and FLYING ELITE were sent for sampling.
