On arrival at the Start, it was noted EXCITABLE BOY had a small cut to the left hind fetlock. EXCITABLE BOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. MASQUERADER, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly, shifted out at the start and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of EXCITABLE BOY which became unbalanced. After this, MASQUERADER was taken across behind runners. After the 1000 Metres, PSYCHOLOGIST was crowded for room between ULTIMATE WINNERS and G-ONE LEADER which shifted out when proving difficult to settle. After the 800 Metres, MR GINGER was carried into a three wide position without cover by AEROVELOCITY which shifted away from the rail from behind JOYFUL THE GREAT. Both JOYFUL THE GREAT and MR GINGER lay out rounding the Home Turn. TALLEY CLOSE had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 400 Metres, SILLY BUDDIES was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AEROVELOCITY. Near the 300 Metres, EXCITABLE BOY was hampered by MAZANDARAN (U Rispoli) which shifted out from behind HEARTS KEEPER to obtain clear running. U Rispoli was reprimanded. Near the 50 Metres, SILLY BUDDIES and AEROVELOCITY raced tight. Over the concluding stages, MAZANDARAN and PSYCHOLOGIST raced tight. For the majority of the race, ULTIMATE WINNERS travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of ULTIMATE WINNERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AEROVELOCITY and SILLY BUDDIES were sent for sampling.
