5 CHATER WAY N Callan D E Ferraris 9 125 90 --

Steward Report Predict Pace Map
CHATER WAY was withdrawn on 19.11.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SHINY DAY (T H So). Before being allowed to race again, CHATER WAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TRAVEL BRAND and PLEASURE GAINS bumped at the start. From wide barriers, IT HAS TO BE YOU, ALBICELESTE and VANILLA were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, FLYING UNICORN got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped OUTDOOR PEGASUS. Near the 1600 Metres, FAMILISTS shifted in slightly and bumped FLYING UNICORN which became unbalanced and in turn shifted in and made contact with OUTDOOR PEGASUS. Shortly after the entering the Straight, FLYING UNICORN was shifted to the inside of SHINY DAY after being disappointed for running between that horse and PLEASURE GAINS. For some distance approaching the 250 Metres, JOLLY FINE was held up for clear running between PLEASURE GAIN and FAMILISTS. IT HAS TO BE YOU got its head on the side, hung in under pressure in the Straight and proved difficult to ride. Over the concluding stages, IT HAS TO BE YOU shifted ground inwards, resulting in its rider, O Doleuze, having to stop riding and straighten his mount. When questioned, Z Purton said he was not under any specific instructions on how to ride PLEASURE GAINS, however, it was anticipated that that horse may be able to obtain a position in about midfield. He said it was also anticipated that the race would be run at a strong tempo which would spread the field out in the early stages and it had been hoped that PLEASURE GAINS would be able to obtain a position behind FAMILISTS. He said he also anticipated that TRAVEL BRAND, which was drawn immediately to the inside of PLEASURE GAINS, would be positioned towards the rear, however, that horse began well and was then ridden along to maintain a position. He said because of the manner in which the race was run, PLEASURE GAINS was left racing in a three wide position without cover passing the winning post on the first occasion. He added the race was run at a fair tempo in the middle stages and because of this he did not consider allowing PLEASURE GAINS to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail but rather he ensured that the horse remained balanced so that it would be able to then finish off the race. He said although racing wide and without cover, PLEASURE GAINS travelled comfortably before being placed under pressure rounding the Home Turn. He said however that PLEASURE GAINS did not show the same turn of foot that it had shown in its previous races and was then disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of PLEASURE GAINS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL BRAND immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, TRAVEL BRAND will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FAMILISTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PLEASURE GAINS, LITTLE DREAMS and ALBICELESTE were sent for sampling. <21/11/2013 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SHINY DAY was found to have a stiff and restricted action on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SHINY DAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
