SUPER HORSE was slow to begin. As the start was effected, FRIENDS OF YAN OI lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently lost ground. After this, FRIENDS OF YAN OI was taken across behind runners. From wide barriers, SPURS ON and CITY DELIGHT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FRIENDS OF YAN OI got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MING HOI TREASURE. Near the 1300 Metres, SUPER HORSE momentarily raced tight inside MING HOI TREASURE which shifted in abruptly. After the 1200 Metres, VERY WELL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of REAL GENERAL which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BORN TO WIN. For some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, FRIENDS OF YAN OI proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of MING HOI TREASURE which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AFRICA LIGHT. After the 1100 Metres, SPURS ON was left racing wide and without cover. In the middle stages, TRENDY WIN travelled keenly in the lead. Approaching the 200 Metres, BORN TO WIN momentarily raced tight inside TRENDY WIN which got its head on the side and shifted in. Passing the 200 Metres, REAL GENERAL raced tight between TWIN TURBO and GOOD LOOKING WATCH which shifted out slightly. A short distance after this, REAL GENERAL brushed the hindquarters of TWIN TURBO, causing that horse to become unbalanced and to shift in slightly, resulting in REAL GENERAL being awkwardly placed inside the heels of TWIN TURBO until approaching the 50 Metres. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TRENDY WIN was distressed. Before being allowed to race again, TRENDY WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPER HORSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER HORSE, BORN TO WIN and TWIN TURBO were sent for sampling.
