DOUBLE MASTER shifted in at the start and bumped DIAMOND ELEGANCE. GOLD EDITION began awkwardly. From wide barriers, MASSIVE and DEMOKLES were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. B CHOICE was also shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 800 Metres, B CHOICE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASSIVE. Approaching the 600 Metres, GOLD EDITION commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER FRESH and in doing so raced tight inside WINDICATOR POWER. Rounding the Home Turn, GOLD EDITION was checked and lost ground when crowded for room inside WINDICATOR POWER (Z Purton) which at this time improved to be racing inside the heels of DOUBLE MASTER which got its head on the side and shifted out slightly. The Stewards advised Z Purton that whilst they were satisfied that WINDICATOR POWER had caused this incident by racing keenly and improving inside the heels of DOUBLE MASTER where there was insufficient room, nonetheless he should, wherever possible, make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from improving into awkward positions. Throughout the race, SUNSHINE KID travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GOLD EDITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER FRESH and CROESUS were sent for sampling.
