EXPEDIENCE reared as the start was effected, shifted in abruptly and bumped the hindquarters of WELL FIT which became badly unbalanced. MEDIC KINGDOM began very awkwardly and lost ground and then a short distance after the start became unbalanced after shifting out towards the outside rail. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, MEDIC KINGDOM was slow to muster speed. COPY STAR was slow to begin and then lost ground when crowded for room between HURRY HURRY UP and FANTASTICO which shifted in abruptly. Near the 650 Metres, WELL FIT shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXPEDIENCE which throughout the race got its head on the side and hung in under pressure. After the 400 Metres, SUPER GOAL ELITE got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. Apprentice K C Ng (JOY TOGETHER) dropped his whip approaching the 150 Metres. The performance of KEEPTHEGO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KEEPTHEGO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WELL FIT including an endoscopic examination immediately following the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WELL FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MEDIC KINGDOM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WINFULL PATROL and FANTASTICO were sent for sampling.
