After being loaded, WINDICATOR STAR became fractious and after beginning awkwardly was crowded for room shortly after the start between CALIFORNIA BOUNTY and ARRIVED AHEAD. In this incident, WINDICATOR STAR lost ground. SKY MASCOT lost ground when crowded for room at the start between ABLE SPEED and SIMPLE which shifted out. Passing the 750 Metres, GOOD BOY BOY, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA BOUNTY (M L Yeung) which shifted in when not properly clear. M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. For some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres, LONDON CHINA TOWN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ABLE SPEED and near the 500 Metres was steadied away from the heels of that horse. For some distance after the 700 Metres, SKY MASCOT got its head up when over-racing and awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHARITY SPIRIT. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, LONDON CHINA TOWN had difficulty obtaining clear running and over the concluding stages was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER PLUS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from ABLE SPEED. Close to the finishing line, SKY MASCOT became unbalanced when bumped by WINDICATOR STAR which shifted in away from the heels of ARRIVED AHEAD which was giving ground. Throughout the race, SUPER PLUS travelled wide and without cover. After the race, SIMPLE collapsed. A veterinary inspection of SHAHJEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SIMPLE, CALIFORNIA BOUNTY and ABLE SPEED were sent for sampling.
