DAN EXCEL began awkwardly. MILITARY ATTACK shifted out at the start and bumped XTENSION. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that CALIFORNIA MEMORY relaxed well throughout the early and middle stages and travelled comfortably. He said rounding the Home Turn he attempted to shift CALIFORNIA MEMORY wider to follow IRIAN when that horse improved, however, CALIFORNIA MEMORY did not respond to his riding and he was not able to shift out at this time. He said whilst CALIFORNIA MEMORY raced in restricted room at times in the Straight, the horse was not travelling well enough to improve into the gaps. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA MEMORY immediately following the race revealed that it was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, CALIFORNIA MEMORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ZAIDAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA MEMORY, MILITARY ATTACK and PURE CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
