QUANTUM POWER and LITTLE COW bumped at the start, resulting in QUANTUM POWER becoming unbalanced. BOMBER JET began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of GLENEALY STAR. HELENE FUN STAR became unbalanced when buffeted for room at the start between GLENEALY STAR and ELECTRONIC FORTUNE. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, GLENEALY STAR failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. AFFLUENCE OF RAIN also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground. Near the 1000 Metres, GLORY HORSIE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of LITTLE COW which shifted in. After the 700 Metres, FRESH AIR proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIRST IN COMMAND. SUPREME FLIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. At the 400 Metres, HAPPY YEAH YEAH was checked when disappointed for running between FRESH AIR and FIRST IN COMMAND which shifted out slightly. In this incident, HAPPY YEAH YEAH bumped the hindquarters of FRESH AIR which became unbalanced. ELECTRONIC FORTUNE, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY YEAH YEAH in consequence. ELECTRONIC FORTUNE was then held up for clear running until after the 200 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, AFFLUENCE OF RAIN (W C Marwing) was shifted out to relieve tightening to GLORY HORSIE on its inside. In doing so, AFFLUENCE OF RAIN shifted out, resulting in BOMBER JET being badly hampered and taken out onto POWER BLITZ which was in turn badly hampered when crowded for room inside QUANTUM POWER which became unbalanced. W C Marwing was reprimanded and advised that whilst the Stewards were mindful that he was relieving the pressure to a runner on his inside and that AFFLUENCE OF RAIN was commencing to give ground, nonetheless in similar circumstances he would be expected to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. A veterinary inspection of AFFLUENCE OF RAIN after the race did not show any significant findings. SOLAR GREAT and LITTLE COW were sent for sampling.
