BEAR HERO was crowded for room at the start between NINTH GALAXY and VITAL FLYER which got its head on the side and shifted out. SIR EAGLES was slow to begin. Near the 800 Metres, TALLEY CLOSE became badly unbalanced after being bumped heavily on the hindquarters by CHEETAH BOY which was taken out by JUN GONG which itself was taken out by NINTH GALAXY (Apprentice K C Ng) which got its head on the side and shifted out. Apprentice Ng was advised that whilst NINTH GALAXY was proving somewhat difficult to ride at that time, nonetheless he was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. For some distance after the 400 Metres, WINDICATOR POWER had difficulty obtaining clear running. Over the concluding stages, SIR EAGLES raced in restricted room outside CHARLES THE GREAT. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VITAL FLYER, Y T Cheng stated that, in his opinion, with the increase in handicap weight today, VITAL FLYER did not show the same turn of foot that it had at its previous runs this campaign, rather it stayed on one-paced in the run to the finishing line. He said he had been riding VITAL FLYER in the lead up to today’s race and that work had been similar to that leading up to the horse’s previous starts this season when successful. A veterinary inspection of VITAL FLYER after the race did not show any significant findings. AMBER SKY and BEAR HERO were sent for sampling.
