FULL SPIRIT was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between TOP POWER and CRIMSON which shifted out abruptly. FLYING KEEPER was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LUCKY ARMY got its head up and lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside FLYING KEEPER which was racing tight to the inside of MOUNT VICTORY. Near the 600 Metres, FULL SPIRIT was taken wider by MOUNT VICTORY which shifted out. Near the 150 Metres, O’REILLY MAGIC was shifted to the inside of CRIMSON which shifted out slightly. LUCKY ARMY, which was following, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of O’REILLY MAGIC. Over the concluding stages, KING GALILEO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EUPHEMISM and consequently was not ridden out to the end of the race. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MOUNT VICTORY had lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of FULL SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. SABINA and TOP POWER were sent for sampling.
