GOLDEN HARVEST was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, QUIET CONFIDENCE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. HIGHEST ACCLAIM, which was also being taken across behind runners, was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY KING shortly after the start when that horse shifted out. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, HAPPY GOAL got its head on the side and shifted out and in doing so bumped GOLDEN HARVEST, taking that horse and CHINA GOOD wider. BEAUTY KING and HIGHEST ACCLAIM, which were following, were hampered in consequence. In the early part of the Straight, QUIET CONFIDENCE got its head on the side and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of the heels of HAPPY GOAL. Passing the 150 Metres, BEAUTY KING was shifted out away from the heels of ULTIMATE POWER which was giving ground. In the Straight, FLASHING GUY got its head on the side and hung in under pressure. Throughout the race, ULTIMATE POWER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CHINA GOOD after the race did not show any significant findings. SECRET OF WINNING and GOLDEN BAUHINIA were sent for sampling.
