GROOVY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, GIFT IS GIFT was crowded for room between AMIGO and HORSE GALORE, both of which shifted ground. From wide barriers, WINDICATOR POWER and AMIGO were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1100 Metres, TURBO KING became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room between VOILE ROUGE which shifted out slightly and SKY MASCOT which got its head on the side and shifted in. Approaching the 900 Metres, GIFT IS GIFT got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRETTY ONE. Passing the 900 Metres, TURBO KING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRETTY ONE which was steadied to shift in behind SKY MASCOT. Rounding the Home Turn, VOILE ROUGE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LEGENDARY DRAGON. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, GROOVY was held up for clear running. After this, GROOVY continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until the 100 Metres where it shifted to the outside of TURBO KING. Shortly after entering the Straight, LEGENDARY DRAGON shifted out and bumped SKY MASCOT which became unbalanced. Near the 200 Metres, PRETTY ONE was checked when disappointed for running between SKY MASCOT and GOOD WORDS. For a short distance after this, PRETTY ONE had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 50 Metres, GIFT IS GIFT raced in restricted room between AMIGO and WINDICATOR POWER. Throughout the race, GOOD WORDS travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GIFT IS GIFT after the race did not show any significant findings. LEGENDARY DRAGON and AMIGO were sent for sampling.
