MEGA and FRIENDS OF YAN OI were slow to begin. After the 800 Metres, EASTERN PROMISE proved difficult to settle, then after the 600 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. After the 600 Metres, GAMEKEEPERS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EMPEROR BLITZ. LIFELINE ELITE got its head up and made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly and then made the Home Turn awkwardly. Approaching the 500 Metres, EASTERN PROMISE became badly unbalanced, lost ground and was taken even wider when bumped by GOLD EDITION which was taken out by EMPEROR BLITZ which shifted away from the heels of PO CHING KING which itself was steadied to avoid the heels of RIDE ON THE FIRE (C K Tong) which shifted in when barely clear. C K Tong was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this, GOLD EDITION was also left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 200 Metres, GAMEKEEPERS was shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY RED. A veterinary inspection of EASTERN PROMISE, GOLD EDITION and PO CHING KING after the race did not show any significant findings. EVER BEAUTY and SMART KIDS were sent for sampling. <12/7/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>PO CHING KING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PO CHING KING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PO CHING KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
