AMAZING VENTURE was slow to begin. SAME SAME and DUKE’S VICTORY made heavy contact at the start, resulting in SAME SAME being taken out onto the hindquarters of MUSTANG which became unbalanced. After this, MUSTANG was taken across behind runners. Approaching the 1200 Metres, DUKE’S VICTORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SAME SAME which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind NEWSWIRE TOO. SUGAR ON TOP and FIRST CLASS, which were racing inside DUKE’S VICTORY, were hampered in consequence. Near the 700 Metres, ZEZAO got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIMPLY JOY and shifted out, resulting in SAME SAME being awkwardly placed inside the heels of ASTROKID. FIRST CLASS, which was following ZEZAO, was hampered in consequence. In the middle stages, POLYGOLD raced keenly and for some distance after the 700 Metres was awkwardly placed behind MUSTANG. Passing the 700 Metres, FLYING KEEPER was taken in to a position three wide and without cover by MR AWARD which shifted to the outside of BIG WINNER AGAIN. Then near the 600 Metres, FLYING KEEPER was able to shift back in to a position with cover behind MR AWARD. After being bumped by NEWSWIRE TOO after the 400 Metres, ASTROKID shifted out and made contact with DUKE’S VICTORY which became unbalanced. For the majority of the race, ASTROKID travelled wide and without cover. ZEZAO and MR AWARD were sent for sampling.
