After being loaded, FIRST IN COMMAND became fractious and put its head down. Then as the start was effected, FIRST IN COMMAND reared and lost ground. Before being allowed to race again, FIRST IN COMMAND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. CHATER MIKADO was slow to begin. After the 400 Metres, ROMANTIC CITY got its head on the side and lay in. Also after the 400 Metres, NIGHTLIGN raced in restricted room between ETERNAL BEAUTY and CHINA POWER. Near the 100 Metres, FIRST IN COMMAND, which had been held up for clear running, raced tight outside NIGHTLIGN which got its head on the side and shifted out. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ETERNAL BEAUTY, G Mossé stated that his mount travelled well until after the 500 Metres at which time the horse came under pressure. He said when ETERNAL BEAUTY came under pressure, it commenced to make an abnormal breathing noise. A veterinary inspection of ETERNAL BEAUTY after the race did not show any significant findings. KING MOSSMAN, EAGLE REGIMENT and BLAZE KING were sent for sampling.
