FORTUNE TOGETHER was slow to begin. From wide barriers, TRUE VALOUR, LUCKY TYCOON and PILLOWIN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, ALL THE WINNERS failed to muster speed and making the first turn near the 1000 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. After this, ALL THE WINNERS was shifted in behind REGENCY CHAMPION. After the 1000 Metres, KING ON EARTH commenced to over-race and was checked away from the heels of HONOUR LIST for some distance. Passing the 700 Metres, KING ON EARTH again proved very difficult to settle when being steadied away from the heels of HONOUR LIST. LUCKY TYCOON was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and at the entrance to the Straight ran wide after being shifted out across the heels of ALL THE WINNERS. Shortly after entering into the Straight, HONOUR LIST was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SECRET OF WINNING when being shifted to the outside of that horse. In this incident, HONOUR LIST and REGENCY CHAMPION bumped. After the 200 Metres, REGENCY CHAMPION was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HONOUR LIST which got its head on the side and shifted out. Also after the 200 Metres, FORTUNE TOGETHER got its head on the side and hung out. Throughout the race, REGENCY CHAMPION travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE TOGETHER, CHATER POWER and GOLD WINNER were sent for sampling.
