MERACUS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped STALLION SUPREME. ARRIVED AHEAD began awkwardly. DIAMOND KNIGHT, which was fractious in the stalls, was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SPACE RACE which shifted out. Approaching the 400 Metres, DANE PATROL was steadied when crowded for room between STALLION SUPREME and SPACE RACE which got its head on the side and shifted out. After this, SPACE RACE continued to lay out. After the 400 Metres, DIAMOND KNIGHT got its head on the side and lay out under pressure. Over the concluding stages, JUN QI raced in restricted room between HAWTHORNE and ENTHUSING which was taken out by SUPREME JEWELLERY. Also over the concluding stages, GENKI MOOCHI had difficulty obtaining clear running. Over the concluding stages, STALLION SUPREME was awkwardly placed close to the heels of XI YING MEN. Because of this, STALLION SUPREME was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race as it otherwise would be. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPREME JEWELLERY, D Whyte said that although SUPREME JEWELLERY had drawn awkwardly, he was able to shift across to race behind and inside the eventual winner, ARRIVED AHEAD. He said SUPREME JEWELLERY travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages, however, commenced to come under pressure near the 400 Metres. He said whilst SUPREME JEWELLERY did not give ground in the run to the line, it finished off the race only one-paced. He added over the final 200 Metres SUPREME JEWELLERY shifted out on a number of occasions when struck with the whip. A veterinary inspection of DANE PATROL and SUPREME JEWELLERY after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPREME JEWELLERY, ARRIVED AHEAD and SPACE RACE were sent for sampling.
