GENE POWER was withdrawn on 4.11.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (tied up) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter ABSOLUTE FANTASY (C W Wong). EIGHT PLUS NINE was also withdrawn on 4.11.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter VIVA FIGHTER (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, GENE POWER and EIGHT PLUS NINE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When proceeding to the barriers, K C Leung was dislodged from CAPITAL K. Jockey Leung was able to remount CAPITAL K without further incident and the horse took its place in the field. After being loaded, SUPREME FLIGHT and CLASSIC AWARDS became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME FLIGHT and CLASSIC AWARDS will both be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HORSESHOE FORTUNE began awkwardly and made contact with the outside gate of its stall. SUPREME FLIGHT, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and then shortly after the start, from a wide barrier, was taken across behind runners. VIVA FIGHTER was crowded for room at the start between ABSOLUTE FANTASY and PERFECT CHEERS, both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start, GLORIOUS DAYS and HEART WOOD bumped. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, CAPITAL K was severely checked when crowded for room inside MAKE IT which was taken in by VIVA FREEDOM (W M Lai) which shifted in in anticipation of GLORIOUS DAYS (D Whyte) shifting ground to its outside. After shifting in and crowding the running of both CAPITAL K and MAKE IT, VIVA FREEDOM itself then raced tight to the inside of GLORIOUS DAYS which shifted in marginally. In the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action, however, advised both W M Lai and D Whyte to ensure that they leave sufficient racing room for runners to their inside in similar circumstances. After the 800 Metres, HORSESHOE FORTUNE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CAPITAL K. Also after the 800 Metres, VIVA FIGHTER was left racing wide and without cover. SUPREME FLIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 200 Metres, DANZULU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VIVA FIGHTER. Throughout the race, CLASSIC AWARDS travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CLASSIC AWARDS had lost its left hind plate and that MAKE IT had lost its right hind plate. A veterinary inspection of DANZULU after the race did not show any significant findings, however, it was not able to be scoped. GLORIOUS DAYS and VIVA FREEDOM were sent for sampling.
