GOLDEN YIELD began awkwardly. METREVELLI began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of VIVA DOLPHIN which shifted out. SOLAR GREAT was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CLASSIC FIGURE was steadied away from the heels of REAL GENEROUS which was taken in by HOT PEPPER. After the 800 Metres, DIVINITY POWER proved difficult to settle and shifted in, resulting VIVA DOLPHIN being inconvenienced. Approaching the 700 Metres, SOLAR GREAT raced in restricted room for some distance outside EXCELLENT WIN which got its head on the side and shifted out away from HOT PEPPER. Then after the 600 Metres, SOLAR GREAT was steadied when unable to maintain its position to the outside EXCELLENT WIN. Approaching the 400 Metres, SOLAR GREAT was shifted in away from the heels of EXCELLENT WIN. SOLAR GREAT then raced greenly and after the 200 Metres was steadied when REAL GENEROUS shifted out away from the heels of GOLDEN YIELD which shifted in after being crowded for room. After this, SOLAR GREAT had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race. W C Marwing (STAR LEGEND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SHARE OF GOLD, resulting in that horse being checked and in turn taken out across the running of GOLDEN YIELD which was checked as a consequence, resulting in both SHARE OF GOLD and GOLDEN YIELD losing their rightful running. REAL GENEROUS, which was following GOLDEN YIELD, was momentarily steadied at this time. W C Marwing was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 23 June 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 15 June 2011. In addition, W C Marwing was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Z Purton (SHARE OF GOLD) was fined a sum of $5,000 for misconduct in that prior to the winning post he directed an inappropriate gesture towards W C Marwing. Passing the 200 Metres, REAL GENEROUS was checked away from the heels of GOLDEN YIELD which shifted out. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GOLDEN YIELD was making a significant respiratory noise and an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to have a very frequent intermittent soft palate displacement and a flaccid epiglottis. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN YIELD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR GREAT and REAL DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. SHARE OF GOLD and STAR LEGEND were sent for sampling.
