WAR CZAR was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 Metres, TAVERNER got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied to take up a position behind FLORAL PICASSO. Soon after straightening, SUNNY FAY shifted in and made contact with BILLION. As a consequence, SUNNY FAY became unbalanced and continued to lay on BILLION which was hampered. The Stewards opened an inquiry into Apprentice T H So’s handling of DEPOSER in the early and middle stages. After taking evidence from Apprentice So and Mr L Ho, the trainer of DEPOSER, the matter was adjourned until a date to be fixed as Apprentice So was not able to continue attending the inquiry due to being transported to hospital following an incident behind the barriers in Race 7. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DEPOSER had bled from both nostrils. HORSESHOE FORTUNE and TAVERNER were sent for sampling.
