Steward Report Predict Pace Map
From the outside barrier, DRAGONFIELD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. From a wide barrier, AMAZING SKY was also taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Also shortly after the start, MOUNT SURPLUS was crowded for room between ALL THE WINNERS and SCENT OF OSMANTHUS, both of which shifted ground. After this, ALL THE WINNERS was ridden along to obtain a forward position, however, failed to muster speed and raced wide. Near the 900 Metres, AMAZING SKY was steadied when crowded for room between ALL THE WINNERS which shifted in slightly and SCENT OF OSMANTHUS which got its head on the side and shifted out. Also near the 900 Metres, TRACK LIGHTNING became unbalanced. Near the 850 Metres, TRACK LIGHTNING commenced to race keenly and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD SMILE. After this, TRACK LIGHTNING continued to prove difficult to settle and near the 700 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 500 Metres, K-JACK commenced to hang out and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of TRACK LIGHTNING. K-JACK continued to hang out and near the 450 Metres was steadied away from the heels of TRACK LIGHTNING which shifted in slightly. GOOD SMILE, which was following K-JACK, was steadied in consequence. In the Straight, K-JACK continued to get its head on the side and hung out. The racing manners of K-JACK were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, K-JACK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 150 Metres, AMAZING SKY shifted out away from the heels of SHANGHAI PIONEER (H W Lai) which shifted in. H W Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. Passing the 150 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE was shifted to the inside of DRAGONFIELD which got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. Also passing the 150 Metres, GOOD SMILE was momentarily steadied when racing between SHANGHAI PIONEER and DRAGONFIELD, both of which shifted some ground. Throughout the race, MOUNT SURPLUS travelled wide and without cover and DRAGONFIELD raced greenly. A veterinary inspection of ALL THE WINNERS after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of K-JACK after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. SURFER BOY and TRACK LIGHTNING were sent for sampling. <10/3/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>K-JACK, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. K-JACK was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, K-JACK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As previously advised, K-JACK will also be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend due to its unacceptable racing manners.
