LUCKY MAGIC was withdrawn on 20.11.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPREME FAY FAY (Apprentice M L Yeung). Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MAGIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, it was reported that ROYAL DOCTOR had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. ROYAL DOCTOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Near the 700 Metres, CHINA WIN was checked away from the heels of SUPREME FAY FAY. For some distance after this, CHINA WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME FAY FAY. Z Purton (ROYAL DOCTOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of HEALTHY FARM, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running. Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 9 December 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 1 December 2010. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WINDICATOR POWER, G Mossé stated that passing the 1000 Metres WINDICATOR POWER commenced to over-race and he was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HEALTHY FARM. He said making the first turn near the 850 Metres WINDICATOR POWER was taken wider by HEALTHY FARM and continued to prove difficult to settle. He said although WINDICATOR POWER was able to race with cover on the circle, the horse was still left racing three wide. He said he balanced WINDICATOR POWER, which had been inclined to lay out, in the early part of the Straight, however, when placed under pressure the horse was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to respond to his riding. A veterinary inspection of WINDICATOR POWER and WINNER SMART after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HEALTHY FARM had lost its right front plate. Also after the race, the trainer reported that ROYAL DOCTOR had sustained a cut to the left hind leg. WINDICATOR POWER, GLENEALY ELITE and FINN MACCOOL were sent for sampling.
