Shortly after the start, DASH AHEAD and SHAM SHUI PO were both badly crowded for room inside KOWLOON PRIDE which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 1600 Metres, OASIS DAVIS was steadied away from the heels of WARM EMBRACES (B Doyle) which shifted in when not properly clear. B Doyle was reprimanded and advised that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. A short distance later, WARM EMBRACES, which was proving difficult to settle, was severely checked away from the heels of DIVINE KID and in doing so shifted in, resulting in DASH AHEAD and INDUSTRIAL LEGEND both being checked when crowded for room. As the Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was caused due to the racing manners of WARM EMBRACES which was racing with blinkers reapplied today, no further action was taken. KOWLOON PRIDE raced wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. Passing the 50 Metres, OASIS DAVIS got its head up and shifted in towards the heels of HO WONGCHOY. A veterinary inspection of DASH AHEAD after the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that a veterinary examination of SHAM SHUI PO, which finished tailed out, revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, SHAM SHUI PO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The Veterinary Officer reported that a veterinary examination of WARM EMBRACES after the race noted that the horse had sustained a wound to the outside cannon of its right front leg. PRIVATE ROAD, HO WONGCHOY and REDOUTE’S FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
