Making the first turn near the 1300 Metres, SUPREME COMMANDER got its head on the side and hung out, resulting in LIVERBIRD being crowded for room out onto LUCKY MONEY STAR which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by LIVERBIRD. Throughout the race, LUCKY MONEY STAR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performances of LIVERBIRD and LUCKY MONEY STAR, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LIVERBIRD and LUCKY MONEY STAR will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPREME COMMANDER, B Prebble stated that he rode his mount slightly more forward than at its most recent start when successful due to its good barrier today. He said making the first turn SUPREME COMMANDER hung out and after this did not travel as it did at its most recent start. He said SUPREME COMMANDER came under pressure passing the 800 Metres to maintain its position and, in his opinion, was most disappointing in its failure to travel at any stage of today’s race and its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME COMMANDER and LUCKY MONEY STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. STORM’S DESTINY, LIGHTNING MOUNT and SEXY BABY were sent for sampling.
