SMASHING EXPRESS (J252): Shifted in near the 1500 Metres and was bumped. After the 100 Metres was steadied to avoid PODIUM (M F Poon) which shifted in when not quite clear. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care.
SUPER BABY (G364): After the event, Z Purton stated that his instructions were to obtain cover as SUPER BABY had been racing out of form when it led its last two starts. He added when the pace of the event increased approaching the 500 Metres when RUNNING AHEAD moved forward, SUPER BABY was not suited by having to be ridden along at that stage. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PARTY WARRIOR (E368): Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
CONFRINGO (J322): Sent for sampling post-race.
GALLANT CROWN (D359): No report.
MR GOOD VIBES (H180): Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start raced in restricted room between SUPERB MOVE and PARTY WARRIOR. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of A Badel, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (E413): After the event, K H Chan stated that his mount would be better suited by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, YOU’REMYEVERYTHING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PODIUM (H173): Near the 1500 Metres was bumped by SMASHING EXPRESS which shifted in. Briefly held up for clear running after the 400 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
MR ALADDIN (H386): When caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the lead near the 950 Metres.
RUNNING AHEAD (G313): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Shifted in near the 200 Metres and was bumped. When questioned regarding his riding from the 700 Metres when he commenced a forward move, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said after following SMASHING EXPRESS near the 700 Metres RUNNING AHEAD commenced to race keenly which resulted in him having to shift out and away from SMASHING EXPRESS. He said as he did so RUNNING AHEAD continued to race keenly which resulted in him commencing a forward move shortly after. He added as he approached RED MAVERICK to his inside near the 600 Metres, that runner shifted out, resulting in RUNNING AHEAD being obliged to race four wide and without cover thereafter when his mount did not show enough speed to cross that runner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, RUNNING AHEAD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUPERB MOVE (G304): Near the 1400 Metres shifted out when being corrected by its rider K Teetan, resulting in SUPERB MOVE then racing wide and without cover until near the 1200 Metres.
RED MAVERICK (J067): Jumped only fairly. Lay in in the early part of the Home Straight and near the 200 Metres was bumped by RUNNING AHEAD which shifted in slightly.

MOTOMAN (J436): Shifted in at the start and bumped HAYDAY.
HAYDAY (H321): Bumped on jumping. Sent for sampling post-race.
INNO CENTURY (K113): After the 700 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from HAYDAY.
EXCELLENT PEERS (G033): Jumped only fairly. After the 700 Metres was steadied to avoid INNO CENTURY when that runner shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to HAYDAY which gave ground after being crossed by SPICY KNUCKLES.
ACCOLADE START (H331): No report.
COLONEL (D090): After the event, L Ferraris reported that his intention was to lead but when SPICY KNUCKLES and SOLAR RIVER went forward in the early stages he was obliged to allow those runners to cross when the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time. He added as a result COLONEL did not finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight and he was of the opinion that COLONEL races best when being able to dictate the lead. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the advice of Jockey Ferraris. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SOLAR RIVER (J308): Bumped at the start. After the 200 Metres C L Chau dropped his left rein for a number of strides. After the event, C L Chau reported that from his wide barrier he was obliged to race wide and without cover in the early stages. He said as a result after the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to stride forward to race outside the leader to avoid having to race wide. He added as a consequence SOLAR RIVER was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SPICY KNUCKLES (H463): After the event, M Chadwick reported that his instructions were to go forward and lead if the pace was not too strong. He said in the early stages when caught wide SPICY KNUCKLES raced keenly and as a result he elected to continue forward to cross runners to his inside to avoid racing wide.
SUPER SIXTY (J071): Jumped only fairly. Sent for sampling post-race.
TELECOM POWER (J332): On jumping shifted in slightly and bumped SOLAR RIVER.
WISDOM STAR (J351): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SKY JEWELLERY (K032): When questioned, H Bowman stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He added he was given no specific instructions thereafter as to where to position SKY JEWELLERY. He said as a result from a wide barrier he elected to settle SKY JEWELLERY towards the back of the field in the early stages in accordance with his instructions. He said from the 600 Metres his intention was to improve to the outside of COSMO NAVIGATOR to follow PRIME MORTAR with the view to shifting to PRIME MORTAR’S outside in the Home Straight, to ensure his mount was given clear and uninterrupted running. He said as he commenced to shift out from the 500 Metres PRIME MORTAR which had raced very wide and without cover commenced to give ground which resulted in SKY JEWELLERY then being positioned to the inside of PRIME MORTAR making the Home turn and unable to shift to that runner’s outside. Jockey Bowman added that on straightening he then attempted to obtain clear running between GOOD PROSPECT and GREAT SPIRIT, however, when GOOD PROSPECT shifted out he was then obliged to shift to that runner’s inside where he was able to commence to ride his mount along. He said after the 250 Metres SKY JEWELLERY then became badly held up behind TAIHANG SCENERY and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 100 Metres where it ran home strongly. When questioned if there was an opportunity to shift out near the 500 Metres to follow PRIME MORTAR before that runner commenced to give ground, Jockey Bowman stated that having regard to his mount being inexperienced and carrying top weight of 135 lbs, he was reluctant to do so. Trainer J Size confirmed the instructions issued. After considering his explanation, the Stewards advised Jockey Bowman that, in their opinion, leaving the 500 Metres he would have been advantaged by immediately shifting to the outside of COSMO NAVIGATOR to follow PRIME MORTAR which would have prevented SKY JEWELLERY from improving to the inside of PRIME MORTAR and providing clear running in the Home Straight. However, the Stewards were not of the view that his riding after the 500 Metres was unreasonable having regard to the explanation that he provided. Sent for sampling post-race.
MEGA BONUS (E184): No report.
PRIME MORTAR (G328): After the event, Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to go forward but his mount did not show sufficient pace to cross runners to his inside. He said as a consequence PRIME MORTAR raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TAIHANG SCENERY (J314): Bumped at the start. In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1000 Metres got its head up when racing in restricted room between COSMO NAVIGATOR and GLORY B which shifted out slightly. After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and refused to settle. He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight TAIHANG SCENERY hung in and did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BITS SUPERSTAR (J362): Raced wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.
GREAT SPIRIT (J155): Near the 200 Metres was held up for clear running behind GLORY B.
SUPER CHARIZZARD (J184): When questioned regarding his riding, L Ferraris stated that his instructions were to take up a position outside the expected leader MEGA BONUS. He said in the early stages he was obliged to make some use of SUPER CHARIZZARD to cross runners to his inside and as a result SUPER CHARIZZARD was positioned slightly in advance of MEGA BONUS when he obtained a position outside the lead near the 800 Metres. He said as he was positioned slightly in advance of MEGA BONUS he elected to allow SUPER CHARIZZARD to continue forward to cross that runner as he felt it would be a disadvantage to remain racing slightly in advance of MEGA BONUS. He said after crossing MEGA BONUS he then encouraged his mount to improve from that point and after initially responding gave ground in the Home Straight. After considering his explanation, Jockey Ferraris was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, his best option would have been to remain racing to the outside of MEGA BONUS and secondly that once he allowed SUPER CHARIZZARD to stride forward of that runner, he should have provided his mount with the opportunity to travel comfortably at that stage rather than continuing to urge his mount forward. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
COSMO NAVIGATOR (H156): Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
GOOD PROSPECT (J406): For some distance near the 250 Metres was held up for clear running. When placed under pressure thereafter lay in. Sent for sampling post-race.
GLORY B (H373): Bumped at the start. Making the first turn after the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied to allow MEGA BONUS to cross. Sent for sampling post-race.
THE PRIME (J352): Shortly after the start was eased when taken out by SUPER CHARIZZARD. THE PRIME was then shifted across behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.
ISLAND GOLDEN (H018): Jumped only fairly and despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.

MOMENTS IN TIME (H474): When questioned, Z Purton stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and stated that he issued such instructions as MOMENTS IN TIME had raced too keenly at its last start and had performed well when ridden in a conservative manner on 4 December 2024. Both Mr Shum and Jockey Purton advised that MOMENTS IN TIME was disadvantaged by settling back in the field when the early stages of the race was run outside of standard time. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
HELENE FEELING (H215): When questioned regarding his riding in the middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to improve forward to the outside of RED HARE KING to prevent that runner taking him wider, H Bentley stated that as his mount was coming back slightly in distance and races best when able to build momentum, he was reluctant to encourage his mount forward approaching the 1000 Metres to race in advance of RED HARE KING. He said the decision not to do so was also influenced by the fact that HELENE FEELING was up in weight tonight carrying 133 lbs and he felt the most important factor when riding the horse was to ensure that it travelled comfortably and was able to build momentum into the race. He said for this reason making the turn near the 1000 Metres HELENE FEELING was taken wider by RED HARE KING and when SENOR TOBA then improved to the inside of RED HARE KING, his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.
SENOR TOBA (G103): No report.
CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262): Jumped only fairly and then was slightly crowded by TELECOM FIGHTERS which shifted out. After the event, C Y Ho could offer no excuse for his mount’s disappointing performance. Trainer C Fownes stated that the horse had pleased him leading into tonight’s race but could offer no explanation for the performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MR ASCENDENCY (G227): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 200 Metres raced in restricted room between FLAMINGO TRILLION and HELENE FEELING for a short distance. Sent for sampling post-race.

M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 and to expire on Monday, 10 March 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
