Passing the 100 Metres, LUCKY MISSILE was shifted out away from the heels of UNITED WE STAND. Throughout the race, VICTORY MASTERY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of JUDY’S STAR. He said JUDY’S STAR appeared to travel satisfactorily in the middle stages but then did not finish off the race after obtaining clear running prior to the 300 Metres. A veterinary inspection of JUDY’S STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Just prior to the start being effected, ROCKAGE kicked out and then as the start was effected was slow to begin and lost a considerable amount of ground. Having regard to ROCKAGE’s previous record for being slow to jump, the Stewards ruled that the horse must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again. VICTORIOUS SEEKER and YOUNG GLORY bumped at the start. From the outside barrier, VIRTUS STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. THE JOY OF GIVING was also steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover. After the 1300 Metres, FRIENDS OF NANJING was taken wider by LIVERBIRD STAR which shifted out from behind GUERDON HELMET when travelling keenly. FRIENDS OF NANJING was then steadied to obtain a trailing position behind LIVERBIRD STAR near the 1200 Metres and got its head up and lay in towards the heels of that horse, resulting in FRIENDS OF NANJING being awkwardly placed near the heels of LIVERBIRD STAR. After the 1000 Metres, ROCKAGE commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of VIRTUS STAR. After this, ROCKAGE travelled wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, VIRTUS STAR was awkwardly placed behind VICTORIOUS SEEKER and at the entrance to the Straight was shifted to the inside of that horse. When questioned regarding the improved performance of REEVE’S MUNTJAC, Trainer C H Yip stated that the horse had been disappointing it its prior races. He said the horse had been ridden in a forward position and from the rear in its races and had not finished off satisfactorily and therefore he issued no instructions to Jockey U Rispoli other than to have the horse travel wherever it was comfortable. He said he believed that REEVE’S MUNTJAC may have been aided by the step up in distance to 1800 Metres today, but nonetheless prior to the race he felt the horse was a place chance at best. A veterinary inspection of FRIENDS OF NANJING and YOUNG GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. REEVE’S MUNTJAC and REGENCY GEM were sent for sampling. <11/11/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that THE JOY OF GIVING was lame its left front leg on the morning after racing. KA YING BRILLIANCE and FOODIE PRINCESS were crowded for room on jumping between KELMIMI WINS and TELECOM ROCKET which shifted out. PARTY EVERYDAY began awkwardly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When being steadied after the 1200 Metres, both LORIZ and SUPER ALLIANCES proved difficult to settle and travelled keenly. Passing the 900 Metres, OLD HAVANA was checked away from the heels of GOLDEN FOUR. KA YING BRILLIANCE, which was following OLD HAVANA, shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence and in doing so bumped FOODIE PRINCESS which was taken wider. Whilst the Stewards were of the belief that LORIZ had contributed to this incident by shifting out, nonetheless G van Niekerk was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Passing the 300 Metres, TELECOM ROCKET was bumped by GOLDEN FOUR which shifted to the outside of UNICORNBABY. G van Niekerk (FALCON TURBO) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the 200 Metres when not clear of LORIZ, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to lose running to which it was rightfully entitled. G van Niekerk was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 December 2019 and to expire on Monday, 16 December 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, G van Niekerk was fined $30,000. Throughout the race, KELMIMI WINS travelled wide and without cover. ETHIOPIAN YARN began awkwardly. ALLIED AGILITY began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BEAUT BEAUT which also shifted in. MY BEGINNER’S LUCK shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER JUNIOR which in turn shifted out and bumped TAKE WHAT YOU NEED. Shortly after the start, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED and HONG KONG WIN bumped. At the 500 Metres, MASSIVE POCKET was steadied away from the heels of HONG KONG WIN. After the 400 Metres, ALLIED AGILITY got its head on the side and lay out. K C Leung (SUPER JUNIOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that he permitted his mount to shift out over the concluding stages when not clear of ALLIED AGILITY, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled close to the finishing line. K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 23 November 2019 and to expire on Thursday, 28 November 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Leung’s good race riding record. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if CALIFORNIA GUNGHO (J Moreira) had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the videos at the start, in the presence of J Moreira and Starter, Mr A Speechley, J Moreira did not submit an application for CALIFORNIA GUNGHO to be declared a non-runner. As it was established that CALIFORNIA GUNGHO put its head down and to the left simultaneously with the start being effected, the Stewards were satisfied that CALIFORNIA GUNGHO had been afforded a fair start and accordingly weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA GUNGHO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on LIGHTNING STAR at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. After travelling a short distance, LAST KINGDOM was awkwardly placed outside the heels of DEAL MAKER. Making the first turn after the 1500 Metres, LAST KINGDOM got its head up when continuing to be awkwardly placed outside the heels of DEAL MAKER. Passing the 600 Metres, LAST KINGDOM was awkwardly placed behind GO GO FIRST. At the 400 Metres, MONGOLIAN LEGEND was bumped by GENERAL DINO which shifted to the outside of GRAN MASTER. Shortly after entering the Straight, RIGHT HONOURABLE was shifted in away from the heels of EARTH TRILOGY which was giving ground. In the early part of the Straight, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was shifted out away from the heels of BEAUTY ICON in an attempt to obtain clear running. Then approaching the 200 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was checked when disappointed for running between DEAL MAKER and BEAUTY ICON which was taken out by VIGOR FAME which initially got its head on the side and shifted out of its own accord and then shifted out further after being bumped on the hindquarters by COBY OPPA which shifted out. Because of these incidents, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was not able to be properly tested. K Teetan (COBY OPPA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that he failed to take sufficient measures sooner than he did to prevent his mount from shifting out near the 100 Metres, resulting in VIGOR FAME being taken out onto BEAUTY ICON, causing BEAUTY ICON to be steadied and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 23 November 2019 and to expire on Thursday, 28 November 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan’s good race riding record. Throughout the race, EARTH TRILOGY travelled wide and without cover. On jumping, TAKING AIM was bumped when crowded for room between GOOD STANDING and TIME TO CELEBRATE which was taken out by CHAMPION’S WAY which in turn was taken out by NOTHINGILIKEMORE. In this incident, NOTHINGILIKEMORE became unbalanced after receiving contact on its hindquarters by CHAMPION’S WAY. From a wide barrier, RED WARRIOR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from a wide barrier, FLYING THUNDER was steadied in the early stages, however, after the 1100 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. After the race, N Callan (GOOD STANDING) reported that his saddle shifted back near the 500 Metres. When questioned, M L Yeung stated that he was instructed to lead on WALDORF and attempt to find the rail if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position from the outside barrier. He said after shifting in to race outside the leader ENCOURAGING near the 1000 Metres, he was aware that it was not available to him to cross that horse which maintained its position and therefore he continued to race outside ENCOURAGING. Mr A S Cruz, the trainer of WALDORF, stated that as the horse was stepping up in distance to 1400 Metres for the first time today since arriving in Hong Kong and as WALDORF had raced successfully overseas prior to being imported into Hong Kong when leading in its races, he felt that the best opportunity for WALDORF in this particular race was to attempt to lead. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHAMPION’S WAY, J Moreira stated that it was intended for CHAMPION’S WAY to be ridden in a forward position behind the speed if possible. He said however that after being hampered at the start and then due to the fast tempo of the race in the early stages, CHAMPION’S WAY was required to race further back in the field than had been anticipated in order for the horse to obtain cover behind FAST MOST FURIOUS. He said, in his opinion, CHAMPION’S WAY did not appreciate the fast tempo of the race first up today after a spell. He added CHAMPION’S WAY travelled only fairly and after being placed under pressure at the 400 Metres did not quicken as it had previously and finished off the race only fairly. A veterinary inspection of CHAMPION’S WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of TIME TO CELEBRATE and FLYING THUNDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHAMPION’S WAY, ENCOURAGING and GOOD STANDING were sent for sampling.

After the 800 Metres, DYNASTA was left racing wide and without cover. For some distance after the 800 Metres, EPTIWINS raced tight with SOCCER ELITE (N Callan) which attempted to improve between EPTIWINS and AEROFLASH. When EPTIWINS maintained its position, SOCKET ELITE was checked near the 600 Metres when unable to improve between AEROFLASH and EPTIWINS. When SOCKET ELITE was checked, PRETTY BAUHINIA, which was following, was checked away from the heels of SOCKET ELITE and shifted out, resulting in CHIU CHOW KID being taken wider. N Callan was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, there was not sufficient room for him to improve between EPTIWINS and AEROFLASH and he was therefore reprimanded and told to ensure that he does not place undue pressure on other runners by attempting to improve his position where there is insufficient room. Rounding the Home Turn, SAVVY SEVEN was momentarily awkwardly placed behind LITTLE GENERAL and CHEERFUL LEADER. Then in the early part of the Straight, SAVVY SEVEN was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHEERFUL LEADER which lay out. CHEERFUL LEADER then continued to lay out for the remainder of the race. I DO was withdrawn on 8.11.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPLENDOUR AND GOLD (Z Purton). Before being allowed to race again, I DO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPLENDOUR AND GOLD shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER ELEGANCE which in turn shifted out, causing CLEMENT LEGEND to be crowded for room inside GLORIOUS DRAGON which was racing tight inside CROWN AVENUE. This resulted in GLORIOUS DRAGON becoming unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by CLEMENT LEGEND. From the outside barriers, HAPPY SEBRING, DEFINING MOMENT and RULETHEROOST were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1700 Metres, SUPER ELEGANCE momentarily raced tight between SPLENDOUR AND GOLD and CROWN AVENUE which at this time was racing tight inside the heels of TASHIDELEK. Passing the 1500 Metres, JOLLY GENE propped when racing in the lead and lost momentum. TASHIDELEK, which was racing outside JOLLY GENE, shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in HOME WIN being bumped and taken wider. RULE THEE, which was following JOLLY GENE, was checked in consequence. The Stewards were satisfied that at this time JOLLY GENE reacted adversely to a number of birds which were on the track taking flight as the field approached and that the incident was not as a result of JOLLY GENE’s racing manners. Near the 1300 Metres, CHARITY GO was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 1000 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was steadied away from the heels of HOME WIN which shifted out away from the heels of TASHIDELEK. Then approaching the 800 Metres, HOME WIN was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TASHIDELEK which shifted to the outside of JOLLY GENE. Passing the 400 Metres, CROWN AVENUE raced tight outside MONGOLIAN KING which improved into tight running between CROWN AVENUE and CHARITY GO. CLEMENT LEGEND was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 300 Metres was shifted in a number of horses to improve. Near the 200 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was steadied and lost ground when crowded for room between GLORIOUS DRAGON and MONGOLIAN KING which raced tight outside CHARITY GO which shifted out marginally under pressure. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no carelessness exhibited by any rider in this incident, no further action was taken. Over the final 200 Metres, GLORIOUS DRAGON lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride and close to the finishing line lay in towards the heels of SPLENDOUR AND GOLD. After the race, J Moreira stated that although CROWN AVENUE was hampered near the 200 Metres, the horse was already beaten at this time. He said however that, in his opinion, CROWN AVENUE’s beaten margin would not have been as great as he did not ride the horse out given that it sustained interference and was under extreme pressure at that stage. A veterinary inspection of CROWN AVENUE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CHARITY GO, JOLLY GENE and RULETHEROOST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY SEBRING, SPLENDOUR AND GOLD and GLORIOUS DRAGON were sent for sampling.
